ABDEL HAMEED SHARARA -
RISEUP SUMMIT
Abdelhameed Sharara is the founder of RiseUp Summit; the biggest entrepreneurship summit in Egypt and the Middle East with more than 3000 attendees. The summit is known for bringing the entire entrepreneurship ecosystem in Egypt and MENA together for the first time. Before founding RiseUp, Sharara worked at Injaz- Egypt where he helped create the first startups pipeline in all Junior Achievement countries. The program design was awarded the MetLife foundation award for the most outstanding award in all JA countries.
Sharara had also worked as an English conversation and soft-skills trainer at Dale Carnegie and Berlitz, and was the co-founder and business development manager of Adams, a soft skills and training company. He graduated from Ain Shams University’s Faculty of Law (English Section) and was the founder of Ain Shams Model Arab League. Sharara is also a Global Shaper, which is a network of young people (under 30 years) from all over the world, who are selected by the World Economic Forum and are exceptional in their potential, achievements and drive.

Kijamii has extensive experience with clients such as SoundCloud, Chelsea, AS Roma and FC Bayern on managing their online strategies in the Middle East.
Ambassador for Egypt TEDx, and a global shaper at the world economic forum Bahy Aboelezz, who is the co-founder of Kijamii, is a curator at Maker Africa; Maker Faire Africa is an annual event that is being held every year in a different African Nation. It began in 2009 to present & spotlight the vibrant and endlessly creative individuals which have come to represent the spirit of ‘making’ throughout the continent. Bassem El Hady, the CEO of Kijamii, has clients ranging from Philips, to Huawei, to DHL, to Nestle, to Pepsico, to Vodafone, to the United Nations Huawei and others on different digital scopes. He is also the founder of TEDxCairo, part of the independently organized TEDx program dedicated to ideas worth spreading

AWstreams is a full service digital agency operating in Egypt and LA. They come up with creative content for social media and vibrant campaign ideas. They are also proud to be developing outstanding websites and mobile applications. AWStreams has powered 18 mobile applications, 73 websites, and 97 brands thus far.

Inca & Co. is a fabric and lifestyle home furnishings brand, creating visual diaries by developing prints, patterns, textures and colors. El Nahawy tells us. “We design handmade fabrics ourselves, inspired by the stories and cultures of different cities; there’s a Marrakesh story, a Mykonos story, a Mexico story…and they each pay artistic homage to that place.” In addition to having a pop up store at Down Town mall Cairo, INCA & co had booths set up at Rise Up 2015and decorated a few of the events at the summit. RecycloBekia is the first Egyptian electronic waste recycling company that offers green recycling and safe data-destruction services, thus creating revenues from recyclable material inside e-waste. Its goal is to establish a sustainable recycling solution for electronic waste in the MENA region. It started with very low capital in a small garage in Egypt, came in 1st place at the Injaz Egypt Competition 2011, won the “Fedex Access Award” at Injaz AL-Arab’s regional competition 2012 and got nominated to the top 20 finalists at “Start with Google competition”. RecycloBekia is among 15 of the top social enterprises and platforms seeking to empower social entrepreneurs in the Arab world and recently RecycloBekia was recognized by “Forbes Magazine” as one of the 10 Middle Eastern startups you need to know.

They were selected as one of the 7 best Start-Ups in Egypt by Cairo startup Cup, and gained two investment opportunities, a full incubation prize from Flat6Labs and investment from Cairo Angels. “The lesson from our story is: you’ll achieve what you want as long as you believe that you’ll make it. GREENewable is a young Egyptian company proposing green alternatives to generate electricity. The idea is to place wind turbines, which are low in cost, on the electrical poles throughout the country’s highways to generate energy. This means that every car that drives through a highway would contribute to the creation of energy. According to Elbahtety, there will an estimated electricity deficit of 30% in 2014, 15% of which can be covered by the highway wind turbine if installed on 50% of Egypt’s highways. The locally manufactured wind turbines would capture the wind generated by the fast moving vehicles on highways.

STEBN is combining the convenience and flexibility provided by riding a bicycle with the accessibility offered by public transportation by creating a new method of public transportation. STEBN is creating a new system by providing a number of bicycles at a network of stations located throughout the city of Cairo. Users will be able to take a bicycle using the smart cards, and then park it to the nearest station located near their final destination.

SUNutions is a company that seeks to deepen the roots of green energy throughout the Egyptian and Middle Eastern culture. They provide their customers with a variety of devices and services to make their lives easier. Their main product is the Sun Light Collector, which uses sun power to light up indoor buildings. They plan to produce other devices and services by implementing the same technology in the future.

ACCESNY provides Near Field Communication (NFC) technology, by developing an Android application that uses smart phones’ NFC modules function as RFID cards and replaces ID cards. Scanning NFC tags by smart phones will provide the customer with the needed information.
